Junior Chess
Information for Parents:
Pontypool Chess club has an adult member specifically for the development and support of junior players. Mike Kilner is a coach with the Welsh Chess Union and manager of the Wales Under 12 squad. He has a clean CRB check form, which can be seen upon request. Contact details are on the Home Page, or use the Contact Us form on the right of the screen.
Information for Junior Players:
Pontypool Chess Club has an active junior section, with players from ages 8 upwards. Friendly games are always available, and adult players are on hand to give advice and tips if you want them.
Some of our junior players have respresented their schools, played for Pontypool in the local chess league, and even played for Wales in international competitions. Don't worry if you are not quite that good yet, though. There will be a suitable opponent for everyone, even beginners.
