Cymru chiropractic clinic was set up in 2005 by registered chiropractor Dr Trevor Horan. Based in Pontypool town centre, Cymru chiropractic provides Pontypool and the surrounding area with its first ever registered chiropractic clinic. Chiropractor’s specialize in the diagnosis, treatment and Image of a woman tolding her lower backoverall management of many musculoskeletal (muscle and joint) complaints, with an emphasis on mechanical back pain. An amazing 95% of all back pain is mechanical, so it makes sense to provide a mechanical solution.

A Mechanical Solution

Painkillers can give short-term relief, but they do not address the cause of the pain or reach the source of the problem, we concentrate on treating the cause, not just the symptoms. Most back pain is due to poor mechanics in the way that the spine moves due to misaligned vertebra, the bones in the spine. That results in inflammation, muscle tension and reduced blood flow to the area, scar tissue and nerve irritation. Usually that arises from bad posture, too much sitting and lack of exercise, repetitive strains and chronic stressors from modern day life and trauma. Image of a man tolding his spine

Quite simply, the great majority of spinal problems arise from "the daily grind of life." Normal daily activities place a strain on your spine. Your job, your posture, your sleeping positions, any accidents, a pregnancy and other major changes all have the potential to cause damage to muscles, joints, ligaments and nerves.

Prevention is better than cure

Many patients present without any symptoms but just want to ensure good spinal health and optimal function with regular spinal checks – just as you would visit a dentist to check the health of your teeth and gums.

All Chiropractors must have completed a 5 year full time degree qualification and must also be registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) who are the regulatory body for the profession. Every chiropractor in the UK must have professional indemnity insurance. Dr Horan is also a member of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) and European Academy of Chiropractic. Dr Horan also provides medical acupuncture as well as specilising in dispensing custom made prescription orthotics (insoles for your shoes).
